This anthology explores, through the language of comics, the graphic power of three stories by Horacio Quiroga: "A la deriva" (Adrift) which portrays the struggle of a man navigating the Paraná River after being bitten by a snake; "La Gallina Degollada" (The Slaughtered Hen) a tragic tale of a family whose cursed offspring will commit an unforgivable crime; and "El Almohadón de Plumas" (The Feather Pillow) which narrates the agony of a young woman suffering from an indecipherable illness.
These stories, transformed into comic book panels, invite readers to explore the universe of the Uruguayan author and his recurring themes, which made him an essential figure in Latin American literature: the solitude of the jungle, the anguish of existence, and the proximity of death.
For this proyect I was in charge of illustrating the table of contents, the cover of each of the three adapted stories, and Quiroga's famous "Ten Commandments of the Perfect Storyteller" along with fellow illustrator Camilo José. Everything was done on two inks, red and green.
